COMPETITION DESIGN - HONORABLE MENTION

The leading guideline for functional arrangement and forming the shape for the Academy of Music Campus was the context of the site. The surrounding seems to be divided into four separate areas: north (city center direction) is for the pedestrian and vehicular access with representative plaza and main concert hall; west (park side and future City of Music) hosts music rehearsal space with seperate rooms, library, gardens and recreational courtyards; south (riverside and Kurtlandzki boulevard) greenery area with amphitheater will be created; east (bridge side) is for the educational building, driveway, parking and fire road. Valuable existing trees and old greenery will be kept.

The surrounding that belongs to the Campus will be freely accessible and the building will be open to the public during the working hours. On the groundfloor along the internal passageway – „musical passage” – the most bustling functions are accommodated: concert hall, cafe, bistro, and the biggest rehearsal rooms. In relation to the outside plaza and park the high-quality public space will be organized.

Finally, a vivid, opened and attractive academical complex has been created. It is well related to the surrounding and designed in high regard to natural and cultural environment.
